The Kia Sportage has seen some serious changes and improvements since it was first launched in 1993 in Asia - and that’s a good thing. Over the years it’s matured in design and in capability, and now in 2020 the latest Kia Sportage is a well-rounded SUV that offers up practicality and technology all in an attractive package.
While there aren’t a great deal of changes for the 2020 model over the 2019 version, Kia did add a few features to the Sportage lineup that are sure to impress and make life that much easier behind the wheel. A few of those new available features include optional wireless charging, optional 8.0” touchscreen, along with more driver assists like auto high-beams, adaptive cruise control, stop-and-go function, driver-attention warning, pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assist.
Otherwise, the 2020 Kia Sportage remains largely the same, as does the entire lineup.
There are plenty of trim levels to choose from when looking at the new 2020 Kia Sportage that vary in performance and amenities. There are two engines available. The first is a 2.4L GDI 4-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, while the other engine on offer is a 2.0L turbocharged GDI 4-cylinder that’s good for 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Regardless of engine choice, you’ll find a 6-speed automatic transmission across the lineup.
Also across the lineup is standard AWD, safe for the LX FWD model which is the only one that offers up front-wheel drive.
The 2020 Kia Sportage isn’t just a capable crossover, but also a good looking one. Bold exterior features coupled with modern interior amenities mean the 2020 Sportage is attractive inside and out.
